Our generously sized rooms–named after classic authors–feature Euro-top or pillow top mattresses, down pillows and high quality 400 thread count bedding for a restful night’s sleep. Four of the guest rooms have marble fireplaces, each with a slightly different design and it’s own shower bathroom. Guest rooms have wall mounted hair dryers. Eight rooms have color cable TVs, four rooms do not since some guests are here to get away from everyday life. Ten guest rooms have ceiling fans.
Amenities include Serene Elements shampoo, conditioner and hand soap as well as plush & absorbent 100% Egyptian cotton towels. Complimentary off-street parking. Wi-Fi is available throughout the Inn. Seasonal air conditioning is in every guest room. Our Inn is a non-smoking facility.
All rates are based on double occupancy and include a gourmet continental breakfast.
The Rudyard Kipling Room ♦ $100 – $120 (plus Vermont 9% room & meals tax)
The first floor guest room has a marble fireplace (inoperative) and is furnished with a queen size carved four-poster bed, large armoire with TV, skirted nightstand & antique nightstand. The room’s dark green walls accentuate the heavy white door & window moldings. An antique gold settee sits at the foot of the bed to watch cable TV and a cozy wing chair sits beside the fireplace. A large closet is to the right as you walk in. The shower bathroom has handicap bars and a special dual head massage shower system for a wonderful showering experience.
The Jane Austen Room ♦ $100 – $120 (plus Vermont’s 9% room & meals tax)
The guest room at the top of the stairs has a marble fireplace (seasonal, Dura Flame logs Nov. 1 to Mar 15), carved four-poster queen bed and a wall mounted flat screen cable TV. Two nightstands are antique tables. The walls wear unique peacock wallpaper. In one corner is a graceful cherry secretary and antique desk chair. Two large windows let in lots of light with a view of the side yard pump house. A closet & blue shower bathroom are to the left as you walk in. At the end of the bed sits a wing chair to snuggle into and small antique table.
The William Shakespeare Room ♦ $110 – $130 (plus Vermont’s 9% room & meals tax)
Our most popular guest room at the front of the mansion has a lot of natural light from four large windows. Soft green floral wallpaper and luxurious bedding on a king pillow top bed add to the restful atmosphere. Front windows overlook the town green. Sit beside the fireplace (seasonal, Dura Flame logs Nov. 1 to Mar. 15) in an antique upholstered rocking chair. A floral stripped settee sits at the end of the bed to provide more seating. In the corner beside the front windows is an armoire housing a flat screen color TV. The apple green shower bathroom is to the right.
The J. R. R. Tolkien Room ♦ $100 – $120 (plus Vermont’s 9% room & meals tax)
A favorite of guests, this bright room with four large windows has a marble fireplace, seasonal, (Dura Flame logs, Nov. 1 to Mar 15). Front windows overlook the town green and side windows overlook the south yard. Sparkle is added with two silver nightstand lamps & antique silver pieces. To downplay the predominately pink wallpaper, silver bedding and blue furniture were added to the decor. A blue twin sleeper chair is angled in the corner to create a seating area with a small antique pedestal table over which is a wall mounted flat screen TV. One nightstand is a french style desk at which a blue chair sits at. A second blue chair sits at the end of the bed with a round glass topped table. To the left step thru a beautiful etched glass door into the blue shower bathroom.
The Lewis Carroll Room ♦ $90 – $110 (plus Vermont’s 9% room & meals tax)
A cozy guest room with a lower ceiling, restful blue & white color scheme and floral wallpaper adds to the décor’s softness. Twin beds wear delicate blue & white floral Laura Ashley bedding and can be put together to form a king. A small wall mounted flat screen TV is next to a desk with bookshelves holding antique children’s books sits beside the double windows. Guests staying in this room can enjoy a shower or a long soak in the claw foot tub down the hall! Two plush bathrobes hang in the large closet for guests’ use. The bathroom is for the private use of Carroll room guests.
The Francis H. Burnett Room ♦ $90 – $110 (plus Vermont’s 9% room & meals tax)
New green carpeting, pretty floral wallpaper and a queen bed dressed in new Ralph Lauren floral & plaid bedding this room looks like a secret garden. Antique porcelain floral lamps sit on an antique small round pedestal table and rectangle garden style table. The small shower bathroom is unique with a corner sink & floral wallpaper. Just inside the door is a built-in cabinet with shelves, drawers & closet. A ceiling fan is overhead. On the far wall two windows let in natural light. The wall across from the bed is a mounted flat screen TV over a light colored glass top table with metal vine detail.
The Ernest Hemingway Room ♦ $120 – $140 (plus Vermont’s 9% room & meals tax)
Our largest guest room with a king size iron canopy bed and twin sleeper chair. Walls are a burnt orange. Floors are in an orange & black geometric pattern. A window seat with art deco patterned cushions is under a bank of two windows on the back wall. The bathroom is done in black & white with octagon floor tiles, black sink & bathtub. The bathtub surround is black & white tiles in a pattern popular in the 1930’s – 40’s. The shower is a dual head system with massage capability. Just inside the door is a deep closet. A retro ceiling fan is overhead. Wood trim & sconces are in the Art Deco style.
The Ayn Rand Room ♦ $85 – $105 (plus Vermont’s 9% room & meals tax)
Our second smallest guest room with a Euro top queen bed, nightstand and antique dark wood secretary with petite victorian butterfly chair. The walls wear a green & burgundy floral wallpaper. A antique landscape painting hangs over the bed. There are two windows with built in steps, underneath one is a small electric fireplace and the other one to look out of giving you bird’s eye a view of the town green. A shower bathroom and closet are to the right.
The T.S. Eliot Room ♦ $100 – $125 (plus Vermont’s 9% room & meals tax)
Our second largest bedroom with a mahogany half-tester euro top king size bed, two antique tables serve as a nightstands on either side of the bed, one being a piecrust table top & one a turtle top. Just inside the door to the left is an armoire to hang clothes. At the end of the bed is an antique table and french style chair in which to watch the wall hung flat screen TV over an electric fireplace. To the left of the TV is a shower bathroom.
The Pearl S. Buck Room ♦ $90 – $115
Our guest room with the largest bathroom. The room’s euro top queen size bed wears regal red & gold bedding. Just to the left of the door is a closet. Nightstands are an antique child’s desk and a white dresser with a mirror over it. Under the window is a small electric fireplace to warm the room in the winter. In the far left corner from the door is an antique french desk with a french red & gold upholstered desk chair. To the desk’s left is the door into the large bathtub/double head massage shower system bathroom which also houses a tall white dresser & rocking chair.
The Beatrix Potter Room ♦ $80 – $100 (plus Vermont’s 9% room & meals tax)
Our smallest guest room with a full size four poster bed is dressed a dark purple paisley Ralph Lauren comforter set. Under one of the two windows is a small electric fireplace that warms the room nicely o winter nights. One nightstand is a petite white shabby chic table and the other a round table wearing a white embroidered table cloth topped with glass. Lamps are on both nightstands. To the left is a closet and shower bathroom. At the end of the bed just inside the door is a petite antique Victorian chair with white snowflake upholstry.

- We accept all major credit cards except American Express which we require for a reservation confirmation. Your card will be charge in full on the day of check in. Checks are not accepted.
- Our Inn does accept small pets.
- Check-in is from 3 pm to 7 pm, if you will be arriving late or early please let us know.
- Check-out is at 11 am, if you need more time to check-out just let us know. We try to be flexible.
- A minimum of two nights is required during Foliage season.
- Cancellations must be made by speaking with us directly over the phone or with an acknowledged email. Voicemail is not accepted.
- There is no charge, if you provide 7 or more days notice of your cancellation.
- Within 7 days or up to 48 hours before your arrival date, you are responsible for one night’s charge. If, however, we are able to re-book ALL nights reserved, there will be no charge. If we are not able to re-book ALL nights, then a full night’s rate is charged.
- If notice of cancellation is given less than 48 hours prior to your arrival date, then the entire stay will be charged.
- “No-shows” or early departures are also responsible for all charges from original reservation.
- During holidays we require 14 days notice of cancellation or ALL nights booked will be charged. If, however, we are able to re-book ALL nights then there is no charge.
- Holidays include the weekends of: President’s Day, Valentine Day, Memorial Day, Easter, Independence Day, Labor Day, Foliage Season September 21 thru October 21, Veteran’s Day, Thanksgiving and Christmas through New Year’s Day. College Parent’s weekend and graduation are also at our holiday rate.
Please understand that our policies are a necessary part of managing a small Inn. Cancellations affect us significantly. If you are worried about having to cancel for any reason, we would strongly recommend that you purchase travel insurance through a third party provider for your own protection.
